President Donald Trump said that he would send in the U.S. military to cities that weren’t able to control violence and looting on their own, threatening to invoke the 1807 Insurrection Act. Trump followed through sending in federal police to crack down on violence in Portland this last week.

A poll was conducted by Morning Consult showing some 58% of registered voters support using the military to stop riots, like the ones we saw in Minneapolis, where some 800 buildings were torched.

75% of self-identified conservatives, 68% of voters over the age of 65 and 60% of white voters saying they’d either strongly support or somewhat support sending in the military.

Democratic leaning voters also are open to deploying troops. 43% of voters under 34, 40% of self-identified “liberals” and 37% of African-Americans saying they’d support sending in the military to help police. These numbers are a huge problem for Democrat Presidential Candidate Joe Biden who has expressed support for BLM and other rioters. Middle class professional Democrats showing support for law and order could mean disaster for Dems in the election.
