The race between City Councilman Bob Beers and Christina Roush has erupted into full blown open political warfare. The super wealthy homeowners in Queensridge have funded Roush’s campaign while the developer and his associates are funding Bob Beers campaign. Both groups are accusing the other of selling out to special interests. The open warfare broke out over the developer/owner of the Badlands Golf Course deciding to exercise their 30 year old entitlement rights to build hundreds of new homes wiping out the golf course in Queensridge. Their war wasn’t over according to the homeowners groups on March 22, 2017 when District Court Judge Nancy Alf dismissed the last request for declaratory relief by the Queensridge homeowners. Nope they are convinced the City Council has the authority to wipe out the entitlements of the developer and have thrown hundreds of thousands of dollars into Roush’s campaign war chest to defeat Council Bob Beers. With early voting already under way and election day on April 4, 2017, both candidates are fighting for every vote in the typically super low turnout off year city council election.
