TODAY MARKS 2 YRS SINCE SISOLAK’S 2 WEEKS TO BEND THE CURVE

Today marks two years since Gov. Sisolak signed a declaration giving himself emergency powers over every aspect of life in Nevada. Sisolak claimed it would only be for 2 weeks to bend the curve of supposedly increasing hospital CV occupancy. Sisolak closed businesses, closed churches, and banned life saving medicines like Hydroxychloroquine. But Sisolak let “essential businesses remain open, like the Raiders Stadium and Resorts World Construction sites at the time. He let businesses that donated the most open the earliest.

Sisolak picked winners and losers allowing Casinos to open but small mom and pop gaming taverns Sisolak kept closed. Churches were kept closed but strip clubs were allowed to open. Sisolak’s blatant corruption did not go unnoticed by the U.S. Supreme Court. The court took notice how Sisolak allowed casinos to open and operate at 25% capacity while all churches in Nevada, regardless of legal capacity, were limited to 50 people.

Justice Samuel Alito, in a dissenting opinion joined by Justices Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh, argued that Sisolak had elevated casinos above churches. He wrote that the state has, for months, imposed “unprecedented restrictions on personal liberty,” including the freedom of religion.

“The Constitution guarantees the free exercise of religion. It says nothing about the freedom to play craps or blackjack, to feed tokens into a slot machine, or to engage in any other game of chance,” Alito wrote. “But the Governor of Nevada apparently has different priorities.”

“That Nevada would discriminate in favor of the powerful gaming industry and its employees may not come as a surprise, but this Court’s willingness to allow such discrimination is disappointing. We have a duty to defend the Constitution, and even a public health emergency does not absolve us of that responsibility.”

The court later that year ruled against closing churches.

In the end, days before Christmas 2020, Joey Gilbert, Sigal Chattah representing the only church in all of Clark County to fight back in court won in the 9th Circuit allowing every church in the western United States open for Christmas. Six months later Calvary Chapel Dayton Valley and Sisolak settled the lawsuit, with taxpayers picking up the $175K tab.

His actions failed to save lives in the end. Over a dozen school kids committed suicide while locked out of public schools. Nevada’s CV mortality rate rose by 175% in 2021 year over year from 2020. And Nevada’s motility rate was double that of Florida’s overall since the beginning of the pandemic.

Then Sisolak instituted aggressive mask mandates on every aspect and every business with the ruthlessness of a Soviet. He ordered the City of Las Vegas fined by NV OSHA $10K because their workers were not wearing masks while painting curbs outside. Sisolak ordered the shutdown of a Pro-Trump event with pastors at the Ahern Hotel while partying maskless at the Governor’s mansion.

Nevada Democrat after Democrat was caught maskless at private parties including Tic Segerblum who went maskless while the police forcefully removed people from the Clark County meeting for not wearing masks. Tic is currently under investigation by OSHA but no one really believes they will do anything to him. After all he;s a Democrat politician. But Sisolak’s OSHA issued hundreds of fines averaging $5,000 on small businesses for not complying with his mask mandates. Sisolak told the Federal judge that he has these unlimited emergency powers because he was elected and if the public doesn’t like his polices they can vote him out this year. And the stupid Harry Reid appointed judge agreed. Not one judge in Nevada had the courage to stand up to Sisolak’s emergency orders and hold an evidentiary hearing on the facts and merits and the law.

Sisolak gave BLM rioters a pass and even praised them in the summer of 2020 as they shot police officers and burned businesses.

Sisolak’s lock downs destroyed more than a third of all small businesses permanently according to recent report. 40% of all jobs in Nevada were destroyed put Nevada 50th, now 49th with the highest unemployment in the country. It turns out essential businesses were those who could pay his wife’s company “consulting fees”.

Let’s not forget the illegal unconstitutional vaccine mandates Sisolak imposed on Nevada State government workers which courts overturned partially. They still apply to nurses and Doctors in Nevada.

Then Sisolak used his emergency powers authorizing mail in ballots in March 2020, 6 months before a special session where Dems made it legal. Of course Nevada RINO Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske went along with Sisolak’s edicts and refused to challenge them.

Nowhere in the Nevada State Constitution does the Governor have such emergency powers. In 2019, the Democrat controlled legislature passed statues giving the Governor the powers he now claims are endless until he says they end. But I would argue the legislature cannot give Sisolak powers not in the Nevada Constitution with a statute. So Sisolak claims no judge and no lawmaker has the powers to overturn his emergency powers now.

Today, 2 years later, Sisolak ended his mask mandates, until after the election. But Sisolak still claims emergency powers. Will no one challenge him? Will no judge hold him accountable? None of the Republican law maker leadership said a peep while he shut down our businesses. Every single Republican running for Governor has stated on the record that Sisolak is abusing emergency powers and they need to be reformed.

Sisolak has argued he was elected with a democratic majority and so he can do whatever he wants. And this is why we are not a democracy but a Constitutional Republic to protect against this exact kind of abuse by government.
