IS MCCONNELL PREPARED TO SPEND MILLIONS TO DEFEND HELLER?

Republican Majority Leader Senator Mitch McConnell is pledging all his power and resources to defend his Republican Senators against primary challenges in the upcoming primaries. After his failure to pass healthcare reform, base Republican voters are out for revenge in primaries. McConnell is well funded and ready to fight his base to defend his caucus members.

With help from Karl Rove and other establishment kin, McConnell is making an example in Alabama where his Super PAC is set to spend some $8 million dollars in a primary to defeat Rep. Mo Brooks and former state Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore running in a special election in Alabama next month against Senator Luther Strange, who was appointed just this year to replace Jeff Sessions after he became the U.S. Attorney General.

McConnell has pledged to defend his senators against primaries using his enormous resources and the National Republican Senatorial Committee. Sen. Heller is counting on that money to save him here in Nevada against an expected primary challenge after the one term senator voted against repealing Obamacare. Heller has lost most of his base and in a recent poll, had only 19% of Republicans saying they would support him. And only 5% of Nevadans said he was doing a good or excellent job.

According to FEC reports Heller already has over $3 million on hand, but several Pro Trump Super PACS have said they want him gone as well. So Heller needs McConnell if he is to survive a primary challenge.
