The TV AD stated that background checks for private gun transfers have reduced cop killings in states with similar laws by 48%. (See Video for Ad) Jennifer Crowe, Communications Director for Safe Nevada, commented on the issue, saying QUOTE “18 other states have closed the loophole, including Colorado, California and Oregon. If it saves one life, it’s worth it.” Jim Dunlap, the President of the Nevada Association of Public Safety Officers, defending Question 1, stated when asked by NEWSMAXTV LAS VEGAS QUOTE “It’s just like the seat belt law or helmet law. When it first came out, everyone was up in arms against it. But it saves lives. And Background checks will also save lives.
