Today, the New York Bar voted to support legislation mandating CV19 vaccines,“even if people object to it for “religious, philosophical or personal reasons.”

The resolution passed by a majority of the bar association’s 277-member House of Delegates and which speaks on behalf of the 70,000-lawyer organization.

IN a statement issued today by Bar Mary Beth Morrissey, chair of the bar association’s Health Law Section’s Task Force on COVID-19:
“Some Americans may push back on the COVID-19 vaccination,” the May report had said in part. “Nonetheless, for the sake of public health, mandatory vaccinations for COVID-19 should be required in the United States as soon as it is available.” It also had said that “the history of unsuccessful attempts to challenge mandatory vaccinations may reduce the extent of opposition” to a mandatory vaccine order.

“The authority of the state to respond to a public health crisis is well-established in constitutional law,” added Morrisey, a lawyer who also holds a doctorate degree in gerontological social work research.
