2023: 80% INCREASE IN RETAIL THEFTS IN LA

2023: 80% INCREASE IN RETAIL THEFTS IN LA

Feb 15, 2024

On the watch of the Soros-funded Los Angeles County District Attorney, George Gascón, crime got worse in 2023—a lot worse, 80% worse. According to the National Retail Federation survey, Los Angeles retailers suffered losses of $112 billion in 2023.

Gascon refused to prosecute certain misdemeanors, including retail theft, and has eliminated cash bail for many crimes.

Clark County saw a 9.8% increase in 2022 from 2021 (2023 stats are not out yet).

David Johnston, NRF’s vice president for asset protection and retail operations, said in a statement:

“Retailers are seeing unprecedented levels of theft coupled with rampant crime in their stores, and the situation is only becoming more dire.”

The annual survey by the National Retail Federation collected data from more than 97,000 retail locations across 177 retail brands and 28 different retail sectors, including apparel, jewelry, grocery, and department stores, adding up to $1.6 trillion in annual retail sales.

BTW, Nevada has many of the same problems today after our Dems enacted similar laws. Under Nevada law it is only a misdemeanor if one steals less than $1,200; the crime is classified as petit larceny. We have seen lib judge after lib judge here in Nevada let violent offenders out of jail on little to no bail.

Our new Clark County Sheriff, Kevin McMahill, has pledged to daisy chain multiple retail thefts by individuals into felonies in order to hold criminals accountable for the crime spree we are encountering in Las Vegas. But that requires the support of retailers, and some large retailers like CVS have gone woke. One year ago, 360 News reported on the out-of-control CVS crime spree I witnessed.

As I stood there in line at the CVS waiting to check out, I saw an obvious homeless man, around 30 years old, walk in. As I finished and started walking out, that same homeless man walked out with two cases of beer right past the cash register without paying. I stood there for a second, trying to comprehend what I was seeing. He looked back at me and said, “Mind your own business!”. Shocked, I then turned to the security guard and asked if she was going to stop him. She didn’t even bother getting up. BTW, she was 110 pounds soaking wet. She says there’s nothing we can do. What’s really sad is that if I had tried to stop the theft, I would have been the one arrested, probably for assault.

BTW, a first-time armed robber caught in Las Vegas can expect parole, or maybe 6 months in jail. And if the armed robber is a minor, they may spend six months clearing fire roads in Elko. I know this from first-hand experience. Clark County experienced a 17% increase in armed robberies from 2021 to 2022. Often, the criminals were out on parole or out of bail.

Judges are truly society’s last line of defense. Too many woke Lib judges were elected in the last few years, all because they have girl parts. 360 News plans on giving our readers guidance on judges this coming election session.
