No, hell has not frozen over. But certainly some liberal heads are about to explode.

Former Las Vegas City Councilwoman, former State Assemblywoman, and most recently a statewide candidate for State Treasurer, Michele Fiore, has been officially selected to fill the vacant Pahrump Justice of the Peace seat for Department B.

The Board of County Commissioners voted 5-0 for her appointment, which expires in January 2025. She fills the vacancy caused by the passing of Justice of the Peace Kent Jasperson in August, who had served since 2007.

She was chosen out of 18 applicants after Commissioner Leo Blundo and former  County Sheriff William Lutze withdrew prior to the meeting.

Fiore is not a lawyer. Nevada State law only requires a Justice of the Peace to be a lawyer in a township with a population greater than 75K people. Justices of the peace hear cases involving, evictions, small claims, bail, first appearances for criminal charges, and civil lawsuits whose damages do not exceed $15,000.

Michele Fiore is the NVGOP’s elected Republican National Committeewoman.

“I want to thank the Nye County Commission for appointing me to the Justice of the Peace for Pahrump Justice Court Dept. B. I look forward to serving the great people of Pahrump. I will be spending considerable time consulting with my legal friends to ensure I effectively represent the people of Nye County. In addition, I hope to continue my quest for criminal justice reform that I started in the Nevada Legislature. Again, I thank the Nye County Commission and assure the people of Pahrump that I will serve them faithfully.”
