VA REFUSES TO ANSWER MULTIPLE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUESTS

WHAT IS THE VA HIDING? VA REFUSES TO ANSWER FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUESTS

June 25, 2017

360Daily.net served the Southern Nevada Veterans Administration with 2 Freedom of Information requests (FOIA) for information about outside service claims they denied. 360Daily.net did a story a few weeks ago about the VA dumping patients on private emergency rooms and onto outside doctors, then refusing to pay the bills.

The Southern Nevada Veterans Administration PR staff denied the claims made in our story. So we served the VA with a FOIA requesting the total number of claims from outside medical providers made in 2015 and 2016. We then asked how many of those claims did the VA initially deny. The VA refused to answer the FOIA and sent us the form letter below. Note the “Insert here” on the second line the VA bureaucrat was too stupid and or lazy to fill in.

The VA is refusing to answer the FOIA, instead trying to shuffle us around. We Served the FOIA office at the Southern NV VA. It’s obvious the VA does not want to acknowledge publicly what we know to be true. According to hospitals and doctors’ billing staff, the VA denies over 90% of all initial claims they receive. This results in the Veteran being stuck with unpaid medical bills. 360Daily.net is preparing to sue the VA to enforce the FOIA requests if they fail to respond shortly.
