UNTIL WE LEARN TO OUT-DEM DEMS REPUBS WILL FAIL

It’s unfathomable that the NVGOP and the leading candidates in Nevada refused to ballot harvest like the Dems. Adam Laxalt most certainly could have won if we had a ballot harvesting program like the Dems. Over 70% of the ballots that were harvested broke for Cortez Matos, not because Dems cheated, because they fought by the new rules. California and New York Republicans had a great ballot harvesting program and save the day. It’s because of them Republicans control the U.S. House today, by four votes.

But Repubs think ballot harvesting in itself is cheating and refuse to do it, and they may be right, but we’ll never win major elections again without it. So in order to get rid of ballot harvesting, we need to ballot harvest to win elections and change the law.

But that’s part of a bigger problem that Republicans have. Knowing Nevada Republicans for almost a decade, I think I understand them. They hold certain opinions and refuse to be practical in order to win. As Democrats win another winnable, NV Repubs are proud to lose standing up for what they believe.

Since Dems defeated us in the 2020 election using ballot harvesting, Republicans have been forcefully speaking out against it. Every major and minor Repub candidate promised to end the policy if elected. But there’s the rub. Republicans will never beat the Dems without engaging in ballot harvesting themselves.

And there we are, stuck between our values and winning elections. Republicans think ballot harvesting is corrupt, and they are still today resisting efforts to prepare for 2024 ballot harvesting. Dems are hard-core true believers who work year around, day in and day out, preparing for the next election. They’re willing to do whatever it takes to win. Republicans are not willing to do whatever it takes to win. And as Yoda said, “That is why you fail.”

We cannot fight the Dems by playing by a set of self-imposed rules against people who play by no rules. Ask the U.S. Army how it works out fighting terrorists when you tie the hands of your soldiers. Elections and words, replace violence and force in the competition for power. So when I hear our candidates say they refuse to attack their opponents, because “they don’t want to go negative,”, I cringe. Dems have no problem going negative. Too many of our folks act like we’re running for elementary school student body president. We’re fighting for the future of our civilization. Words take the place of bullets.

And too many candidates think running for office means going to every single Republican event, when the hard work of running a campaign really means calling for donations, walking and knocking on doors, and now ballot harvesting.

The Nevada Republicans today are like high school football players competing against the NFL. Until we are willing to fight as dirty as they do, we will continue to lose every major election.
