SISOLAK PAYS COMPANIES $12.5 MILLION TO “HOPEFULLY” CREATE 469 JOBS (26k EACH JOB)

CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) Board approved nine companies that will receive $12 million in tax abatements. In return these companies are supposed to create 469 jobs in the next two years at an average weighted hourly wage of $25.22. That means the Government is spending $26,000 per job.

Did the Democrat Governor just discovered that cutting taxes incentivizes companies to move to Nevada and build businesses? No. They knew that already. The dirty little secret behind every tax increase Democrats push is, they sell tax breaks back to through their lobbyists to companies. High income and corporate taxes don’t create manufacturing jobs but they do create jobs for lobbyists who in turn donate to the politicians. That equals more power for the politicians. They can hand out tax breaks to their donors and friends while denying tax breaks to their enemies.

So when the Governor issued a press release today bragging that he gave away $12.5 million in tax breaks to 9 companies who promise to create 469 jobs over the next 2 years, we’re all supposed to cheer him as a success. Nevada has been 50th, with the worst unemployment in the country now for many months, tied only with California.

The fact is, Nevada Democrats support for high taxes and their California type employment policies are scaring away business that are passing us over for Texas, Florida and other pro -growth conservative states.

Democrats’ favorite word of 2021 is “equity”. But if they truly believed their own words they would cut everyone’s taxes equally. But where’s the power in that?
