NV REPUB SENATORS HELP PASS TRANS PRISON BILL

NV REPUB SENATORS HELP PASS TRANS PRISON BILL

April 28, 2023

Rob Lauer Political Reporter

Do you accept the modern description of transgender women? Should these fully intact men, who self-identify as women, be allowed to be housed with real women in Nevada prisons? Do women in prison have the right to be protected from rape by transgender prisoners? Democrats and at least three Republican state senators, all women, voted yes.

Nevada SB153

AN ACT relating to corrections; requiring the Director of the Department of Corrections to adopt regulations prescribing certain standards concerning offenders who are transgender, gender nonconforming, gender nonbinary and intersex; requiring a program of facility training for correctional staff to include training in cultural competency for interacting with offenders who are transgender, gender nonconforming, gender nonbinary and intersex; and providing other matters properly relating thereto

2. Use respectful language and currently accepted 28
terminology that accounts for and protects the rights of offenders 29
who are transgender, gender nonconforming, gender nonbinary 30
and intersex;

3. Training in cultural competency for interacting with 20
offenders who are transgender, gender nonconforming, gender 21
nonbinary and intersex.

A female prisoner in Illinois filed a federal lawsuit against the state for allowing a male prisoner who claimed he was female, to be housed with her. According to her lawsuit, after she was sexually assaulted in June 2019, she was coerced by a supervisory officer into denying the attack took place and then punished for filing a “false” complaint under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA).

“In an attempt to justify the transfers, Defendants Sexton, Calhoun, Keeler and currently other unknown IDOC employees covered up the sexual assault of Plaintiff and tried to falsely classify it as consensual, to keep it from being considered a PREA violation.”

The Illinois story has been repeated across the country and across the western world. The Illinois story should give Nevada pause, but Nevada Dems and three Republicans are pushing forward.

360 News recently requested the following information from the Department of Prisons, and they ghosted us.

Please provide the official number of transgender women who have been accused of raping a woman in women’s prisons in Nevada from 2020 through today.

How many transgender men are currently housed in women’s prisons in Nevada?

Nevada SB153 is a fledgling transgender ideological bill forcing the use of pronouns and the re-education of prison staff to conform. The bill, which only needed one Republican to pass over Gov. Lombardo’s veto pen, was actually voted for by three Nevada Republican State Senators, Carrie Buck, Lisa Krasner and Heidi Gansert. Ironically, Democratic State Senator Roberta Lange the Assistant Majority Leader, skipped the vote.

The committed claimed there would be no financial impact whatsoever. Federal lawsuits and rapes of female prisoners will certainly cost the state money, along with hiring transgender consultants to reeducate the prison guards.

360 News reached out to Senators Lisa Krasner and Gansert for comment. We didn’t bother asking Carrie Buck who is a hopeless RINO.

Women’s rights groups we reached out to for comment are also mum.

Stephanie Phillips, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, the only woman running statewide so far, issued the following statement:

“ This bill is another example of Democrats’ War on women. As a woman and mother of a daughter, I will fight this. We have had to deal with the woke forcing biological boys/men in female sports,  have to allow them into girls locker rooms, gyms and restrooms, and now even further into female prisons.  We are seeing transgender women, who have not completed reassignment surgery, be placed in female prisons exposing women to rape, attacks and unwanted pregnancies. Where are the protections for the biological women?  All I’m seeing here in SB 153 are protections for the treatment of transgender individuals.  Why do they seemingly deserve extra rights?  I will not bow to this woke ideology, and will stand up for what is right for all women.”
