NV BAR REFUSES TO DISCLOSE HOW MANY COMPLAINTS WERE FILED AGAINST DISBARRED LAWYER ROBERT GRAHAM

Yesterday, Estate and Probate Lawyer Robert Graham was disbarred by the Nevada Supreme Court. Graham recently pled guilty to stealing up to $17 million of his clients’ money. Money from seniors and disabled clients, many of whom depended on that money to live that Graham was entrusted to manage. Graham is set to be sentenced January 11, 2017 to prison where he faces up to 40 years.

The Nevada Supreme Court said in their disbarment order “The record, therefore, establishes that Graham violated the … rules by misappropriating approximately $17 million in client funds, failing to diligently disburse funds owed to clients, failing to respond to clients’ requests for information regarding their funds, lying to the court and others regarding the location and status of client funds and abandoning his law practice,”

360Daily.net inquired about the NV Bar’s records (following Graham’s disbarment) related to all complaints filed against Graham over the years. But according to the NV State Bar, under NV law, complaints against lawyers are strictly confidential. 360Daily.net is seeking NV Bar’s records related Graham over the past 20 years. But now that he’s no longer a lawyer does that protection still exist? Well according to the NV Bar any complaint against Graham they received that did not result in a disciplinary action is confidential still. And 360Daily.net learned that there is no agency in Nevada responsible for oversight of Probate and Estate Lawyers who handle millions of dollars of other people’s money. There’s no bond required. There’s no audit required. They are completely unregulated without any oversight.
