HomeElectionsNEWSMAXTV LAS VEGAS TO BRING LAWSUIT AGAINST ASSMEBLYMAN PAUL ANDERSON FOR REFUSING TO TURN OVER RECEIPTS FOR $46,000 HE PAID HIMSELF AND HIS CREDIT CARDS FROM CAMPAIGN FUNDS Elections, Politics May 5, 2016 On April 27, 2016, NEWSMAXTV LAS VEGAS mailed a certified letter to Republican Majority Leader Assemblyman Paul Anderson asking him to provide NEWSMAX TV LAS VEGAS copies of receipts for over $46,000 in expenses he reported on his 2015 annual report file stamped January 15, 2016 under Nevada Open Records Act § 239 et seq., NRS 293.124, 294A.3, NAC 294A.040, NAC 294A.041, CHAPTER 294A – CAMPAIGN PRACTICES. Mr. Anderson wrote himself four checks over the course of 2015, totaling some $5,147.77. He wrote another 23 checks totaling $41,087.34 payable to his two credit cards, a Visa Black card and a Capital One card without disclosing the actual recipients of those funds. Instead of reporting all the vendors he paid, Anderson reported the payments to the credit card companies. The public has a right to see the details of the $46,000 in expenses Anderson paid out according to legal experts NEWSMAXTV LAS VEGAS spoke with. NEWSMAXTV LAS VEGAS is also seeking a detailed breakdown of what was purchased with the reward points from the two credit cards he ran his expenses through. Candidates are not allowed to use those kinds of credit card points for personal vacations. Nothing in Mr. Anderson’s C&E reports are privileged or confidential. As such we expect the information to be provided timely so the voters have the opportunity to review the report for themselves in the spirit of the law. Today May 5, 2016, Nevada Assembly Majority Leader Paul Anderson, using tax payer funded government lawyers, sent NEWSMAXTV LAS VEGAS a letter refusing to turn over receipts for $46,000 in donor money he paid himself and two credit cards. We attached the letter from the Legislative Counsel to NEWSMAXTV LAS VEGAS claiming he has legal privilege Anderson voted into law last year. NEWSMAXTV LAS VEGAS plans on filing a lawsuit in Nevada District Court next week against Majority Leader Paul Anderson to compel him to provide receipts for $46,000 he paid himself and his credit cards in 2015 from his campaign funds. The $46,000 Anderson spent were not his personal funds and we believe the voters have a right to know what our public officials are doing with ALL their campaign donations. They cannot and should not hide behind government lawyers. Although NEWSMAXTV LAS VEGAS is not accusing Mr. Anderson of any criminal wrongdoing, it is a crime under Nevada Revised Statute if Paul Anderson did spend any campaign donations on personal expenses. In addition, there are funds Paul Anderson spent last year that his C&E failed to report, according to our sources. NEWSMAXTV LAS VEGAS invites Mr. Anderson to come on our TV station and answer all questions related to this subject. NEWSMAXTV LAS VEGAS is asking Mr. Anderson to stop hiding behind government lawyers and release receipts for the $46,000 immediately.
