Eureka County Sheriff Jesse Watts gave Governor Steve Sisolak an ear full in an open letter in which he refuses to enforce the unconstitutional gungrab law SB143 just past last month by the Democrat Controlled legislature. Sheriff Watts has joined a movement across the state in which County Commissioners and Rural Sheriffs are in open revolt against the seated State Government. Several counties including Nye, Lincoln and Douglas are openly considering declaring themselves 2nd Amendment Sanctuaries.

Sheriff Watts writing in his passionate letter to the Governor of Nevada on February 19, 2019 said “I am Sheriff Jesse J. Watts, elected by the citizens of Eureka County, who entrust me with a noble cause: To keep their families safe and free”. Watts goes on to state “We must not allow, nor shall we tolerate, the actions of criminals, no matter how heinous the crime, to prompt politicians to enact laws that will infringe on the liberties of responsible, law abiding citizens who have broken no laws”.

Sheriff Watts declares “it is my position as Sheriff, that I refuse to participate, or stand idly by, while my citizens are turned into criminals due to unconstitutional actions of misguided politicians”.

Governor Sisolak has not responded to Sheriff Watts’ letter to date.

Earlier in the week, a Veterans’ group announced they are filing a lawsuit to block the new gungrab law.

According to the group, “We cannot defeat Michael Bloomberg’s $20 million gun grab in Nevada with nothing. SB143 violates the U.S. Constitution, the Nevada Constitution and frankly will do nothing to stop criminals from stealing guns. Good intentions won’t stop criminals. Veterans, we fought for our God given basic human rights overseas, now we must fight at home. Join the battle.”
