A scene that continues to play out across the country as well as in Nevada, rural counties standing up the urban progressive Democrat gun grabbers, declaring themselves 2nd Amendment Sanctuary Counties. That’s what happened in Virginia as Democrats took control of the legislature and started passing gun control laws. But unlike Nevada’s Governor Sisolak, who seems to want to work things out civilly, Virginia’s Governor Northam, is threatening to use military force against his own citizen law enforcement officials who refuse to comply with the new laws.

At least 75 counties in Virginia have declared themselves a “Second Amendment Sanctuary”. The Rural communities are agitated by laws proposed by Northam like “banning the sales of semi-automatic rifles, and only allowing gun owners to keep their current AR-15s and similar rifles if they register them – or else they must surrender the rifles.”

“The governor may have to nationalize the National Guard to enforce the law,” Democrat Rep. Donald McEachin said, as reported in the Washington Examiner.

Here in Nevada, every single Sheriff signed a pledge not to enforce unconstitutional gun laws. A lawsuit was filed this month to stop the Red Flag Law from going into effect next month, but the background check law is still rolling forward. Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford threatened Rural County officials with legal action if they refuse to enforce the laws.

But Gov. Sisolak said in a recent interview in The Nevada Independent, he was surprised by the intensity and emotional responses of people in the rurals. Gov. Sisolak seems more interested in defusing any potential conflict here in Nevada. But if Virginia’s Governor uses military force to remove rural officials it could spark serious reactions across the country, including here in Nevada.
