GOV. SANDOVAL AUTHORIZES CHANGING MEN’S AND WOMEN’S BATHROOMS INTO “GENDER NEUTRAL” PUBLIC BATHROOMS AT STATE OFFICE BUILDING

May 12, 2016

This week while I was down at the Grant Sawyer Nevada State office building I came across something I never thought I would see in America, let alone in Nevada. The public bathrooms on the first floor near the cafeteria were changed from men’s and women’s rooms to “GENDER NEUTRAL” French style. We’re not talking about a bathroom with 1 toilet. We’re talking about a multi-stall former women’s bathroom with about 6 stalls and a former men’s bathroom with about 5 urinals and 3 stalls (See the attached pictures). I was confused and asked someone who worked there; “which bathroom I should use?” “They told me either one you want. They are gender neutral.” Now we all have heard about Target in the news recently allowing transgender men to use the women’s bathrooms, but the State of Nevada has taken this to the next level under Gov. Sandoval, changing our public bathrooms into “Gender Neutral” bathrooms where anyone can go into any bathrooms regardless of what gender they identify as.

According to sources I spoke with at the Grant Sawyer Government Office Building, a few years back one government employee had a sex change and into order to accommodate this one person the Governor authorized changing the public bathrooms to gender neutral. When asked about whether that was authorized under Nevada or federal privacy laws their response was “The doors lock so there’s no legal issue.” When asked which bathroom the sources use who works there, they answered “the private bathroom upstairs for employees.”

Assemblyman Brent Jones who launched the Contract With Nevada which calls for enacting “legislation that all restrooms and athletic locker rooms in public schools shall be biologically gender specific” said “As the parent of a young daughter, I would be concerned about men in the bathroom, but I am all for making REASONABLE accommodations for transgenders. Women also have a right to their privacy and should not have to surrender their rights for 1 transgender.”

Assemblyman Majority Leader Paul Anderson and Speaker Hambrick had not comment.

This could explain why President Obama considered nominating Governor Sandoval for a seat on the United States Supreme Court earlier this year.

Gov. Sandoval did not respond to numerous phone calls and emails requesting a comment regarding the policy change. Maybe the public will have more luck.

If you have strong feelings about changing Public bathrooms here in Nevada to “Gender Neutral” call Gov. Sandoval at Phone: (775) 684-5670.
