Clark County School District’s distance learning software, GoGuardin, allows teachers to take control of kids’ computers, monitor browsers and screen save images. The teacher can filter and limit what sites a child can go to. GoGaurdian allows the school district to scan all your files. The problem is when parents have asked the district to disable the control principles have refused.

So if the child doesn’t log out of GoGuardian, the system continues to monitor and record activities. Computer experts say that’s spyware. Parents need to make sure their kids use a separate computer. This is big brother run amuk.

This might be why thousands of local kids have opted out of the distance learning from CCSD. Some 50,000 kids have opted out according to reports.

Candidate for Clark County School District B, Katie Williams, wants to end the program and return kids to schools ““Kids belong in schools, there are thousands of studies that show students do better in social settings when it comes to learning and development. While online learning is great, it’s not the norm and it should be used as a tool not the end all be all solution to education”.
