NV JUDGE WHO BLOCKED TRUMP 2020 LAWSUIT RESIGNS FINALLY

This week in Carson City, Judge Wilson of the first Judicial District Court of Nevada, District 2, resigned from the bench. Judge Wilson has a sorted judicial record. The Carson City District Court is, by law, the exclusive court of jurisdiction over election lawsuits and ballot lawsuits. His resignation will be effective January 8, 2024, after his replacement is appointed by Gov. Lombardo.

Nevada District Court Judge Wilson dismissed several election challenge cases without allowing any discovery or even evidentiary hearings. Whether you believe there was election fraud or not, candidates have a right to challenge election results. The burden should not be on candidates to prove wrongdoing without access to election evidence like mail-in ballots. Most of the time, candidates have anecdotal evidence from voters and poll watchers. So they then need access to actual mail in ballots, and other data to prove or disprove election fraud. Instead, Judge Wilson blocked any effort to obtain any discovery.

If we want the American people to have confidence in their election system, transparency must be ensured. It is exactly the kind of ruling Judge Wilson administered that caused so many people to question the integrity of the election system. Many prominent Republican lawyers were eyeing a challenge to Wilson and Russell, the other morally challenged judge on that Carson City bench.

The Carson City District Court also has enormous power over ballot initiatives like the School Choice and Voter ID bills, both of which were struck down for questionable reasons last year.

Now that Judge Wilson has resigned, it is up to Gov. Lombardo to appoint a new judge to that critical post.

To fill the vacant seat, the Nevada Commission on Judicial Selection will provide Governor Lombardo with three candidates for his consideration and selection.
