VEGAS HOMELESS CAUSE DOZENS OF FIRES IN VACANT BUILDINGS EACH WINTER

As the cold weather hits Las Vegas, homeless hit vacant homes and buildings, setting small fires inside to keep warm. Often those fires turn deadly for the homeless who often pass out from drug use.

Clark County and the City of Las Vegas have funded thousands of new beds in homeless shelters over the past several years. But to live in those shelters homeless can’t consume illegal drugs and must follow safety rules they often reject. Many homeless prefer the lawless streets to structured rules of homeless shelters.

Local judges often kick homeless free even after numerous trespassing charges out of some misguided sense of pity. But the numerous fires show the failure of that policy. Clearly, our neighborhoods are not safe with thousands of mentally ill, drug addicts and criminals roaming our streets.

Democrats have put the homeless before business and home owners. And we end up with what we have.
