VEGAS COUNCILMAN STAVROS ANTHONY WILL CALL FOR AN END TO STUPID HOV LANES AT WED MEETING

They are (in theory) supposed to provide an incentive to people to car pool to work. But Las Vegas is a town where people do not and cannot car pool to work because of the layout of the town and the crazy hours people work. The HOV lanes were clearly a bad idea from the very start. Every time I’m driving on the freeway I see moms with babies, motorcycles and families driving in the HOV lanes. But mostly they are empty and underutilized.

Yesterday I saw someone driving 50 mph in the HOV lane on the 95 causing a small back up as I sped by at 65 plus.

So Republican Las Vegas City Councilman Stavros Anthony issued the following announced today “I am introducing a resolution at our Wednesday July 17 Las Vegas City Council meeting asking the NV Transportation Board to eliminate 24/7 HOV restrictions on US 95 and I 15. What do you think? Come to the meeting.”

Newly elected Councilwoman Victoria Seaman also called for an end to the HOV lanes last month.

The NV Transportation meeting is this Wednesday June 17, 2019 at 9:30am at the Grant Sawyer Building located at 555 E Washington Ave #5100, Las Vegas, NV 89101.

Here’s a better idea. How about only people who own a business or people with jobs get to drive in the HOV lanes? I can’t tell you how many times I am in a rush to my second job or business and I’m stuck behind someone with nowhere to be in a hurry. Small business owners pay most of the taxes in this county and city so why don’t they get some special help to get around faster?
