UMC & NV ICU DATA DO NOT SUPPORT SISOLAK LOCK DOWN 2.0?

This week, Gov. Sisolak claimed CV19 numbers were on the rise again and requested folks stay home with an implied threat of closing the economy again if the public refused to comply. But a look at the numbers don’t reflect any such emerging CV19 surge in Southern Nevada hospitals.

Southern Nevada Hospital Statistics for November 10, 2020 show a total number of Acute Care Staffed Beds of 4,686; of which 84% are occupied and only 12.4% are occupied with CV19 patients. ICU Beds in Southern Nevada total 772, of which 66% are occupied and 32.1% are occupied with CV19 patients. Out of the total number of ventilators in the valley of 929, 28% are occupied with CV19 patients.

In fact, in Sept. 2020 UMC reported the following data:

“Our ICU team members are currently caring for 23 COVID-19 patients. COVID-19 patients represent 26 percent of our overall ICU population. UMC’s overall ICU occupancy currently stands at slightly above 80 percent, representing a significant decrease from the peak of the pandemic.”  https://360newslasvegas.com/sisolak-overstated-cv19-icu-occupancy-rate-by-240/

UMC’s Nov 10, 2020 report reflects a decrease in the CV19 ICU occupancy down from 26% to 24.7 %. The data does not reflect Sisolak’s rhetoric supporting any such lock downs at this time.
