THE REAL COST OF ELECTRIC CARS- NO FREE LUNCH

A Tesla owner recently discovered the real cost of electric cars the hard way. In environmentally conscious Finland, Tesla Owner Tuomas Katainen had a problem with his Tesla S Model. After a month sitting at the Tesla dealership, they told him the bad news; his battery pack had to be replaced.

$22,000 was the cost to replace the Tesla S Battery pack. Instead, Tuomas blew up the car in protest.(see video). The car had over 150K miles. That’s a cost of almost 14 cents per mile. The average V8 gas engine lasts about 200K miles, with an average cost of $3K to overhaul and $2K to remove and re-install the engine, totaling $5,000. That comes out to 2.5 cents per mile. That means the Tesla costs 500% more per mile to operate than the average V8 gas car. Lithium will only rise in costs as more people buy electric cars. That obviously doesn’t include the cost of gas and electricity to operate.

And the average gas car costs $35,000 brand new compared the Tesla S costing over $131K as listed at the Tesla Dealership  here in Las Vegas.

So consider the real costs when you hear Democrats push the Green New Deal which would ban all gas cars in 15 to 20 years. The green they are talking about is your money leaving your wallet.
