Sheriff Lombardo testified before the taxation committee answering questions regarding a spike in crime this year in Clark County where murders and assaults are up 100%.

Sheriff Joe Lombardo said he’s “losing sleep over the scourge of violent crime” in Clark County. SWAT, internal affairs and property crimes detectives have also been tasked with addressing violent crime. Sheriff Lombardo blamed gang violence on the spike in crime. “More importantly, drug territory has been the crux of it,” Lombardo said.

Sheriff Lombardo did not address reports that the Federal government has refused to pick up thousands of illegal aliens Metro arrests every year forcing them to allow many to post bail and return to our community.

Assemblyman Brent Jone drilled Sheriff Lombardo about the frivolous use of SWAT teams to execute nonviolent knock warrants and the 100 plus police officers currently earning over $180,000 per year, but Committee Chair Derrick Armstrong shut Jones’ questions down.

The sheriff is asking the Nevada Legislature to amend the state’s property tax caps in order to raise property taxes in order to hire 250 more cops.
