Rita Reid, no relation to the Harry Reid clan, knew Jeff German and deeply respected his work and is obviously deeply shocked by his murder and all that has transpired. Her relationship to Telles as the number 2 in the office was stressful and dysfunctional, as described by German’s reporting. So when she decided to run against her boss, she fully expected to be fired. But today, she is still working there as the leading candidate in the race to replace Telles. On Aug. 26, Rita’s opponent, Patsy Brown, was arrested for drinking and driving with an open container. Rita comes across as a dedicated professional committed to serving those who die alone. The Clark County Public Administrator handles the estates of people who die, often without family. Rita went on to tell 360 News that at times during her campaign against Rob Telles, she was so concerned for her safety that she seriously considered getting her conceal carry firearms permit. But such a permit can take 2 months to get. Several times, folks told her to watch her back and be careful, worried about Telles’ unpredictable behavior. Rob Telles has no prior felonies, so its likely at some point he may be granted bail. And until the November election, Telles is the duly elected Public Administrator. So there is the very real possibility that he could return to work. Telles will continue to collect his $170K annual salary until his term is up. According to Rita, she was fully aware that German had recently served the office with more open records requests, which deeply agitated Rob Telles prior to German’s murder. German was investigating possible public corruption allegations against Telles. 360 News has served Clark County with an open records request for all of German’s open records requests involving the Public Administrators office for the last 60 days.
