SHERIFF LOMBARDO’S CRIME SURGE SPILLS ONTO THE STRIP TODAY THREATENING THE MONEY MACHINE

March 25, 2017

In less than 12 hours there were two violent crimes on the Las Vegas strip today. First, this morning at 2:00 am three well dressed men wearing masks robbed and shot up a Rolex store in the Bellagio. Then later today a man shot up a bus in front of the Cosmopolitan Hotel killing one person, shutting down the strip for hours on a beautiful spring summer day with 300,000 tourists in town for the weekend. Ever since Sheriff Lombardo was elected in 2014, crime in Clark County has spiked.

The number one job of the Sheriff of Clark County is to protect the strip or as we call it our money machine. Today two violent crimes shook the strip in the eyes of the world and threaten our very survival as a community. All the major national news outlets on this slow weekend news day, covered the police SWAT team fight a street battle on Las Vegas Blvd.

Last year the murder rate jumped by 100% hitting a 30 year all time high. Gang violence ravaged parts of town forcing Lombardo to reverse course and reconstitute the central gang task force. The State Legislature voted last year in a special session to increase the sales tax in Clark County to pay for more cops and that was after the Clark County commission approve another sales tax increase last year for more cops.

Now that huge spike in violent crime in Clark County has spilled onto the strip and onto the TV screens of America. Sheriff Lombardo must be held accountable by our community. We have given him everything he’s asked for and more. Today’s violence falls on Lombardo’s shoulders and is his to bear.
