QUESTION 1 / GUN RIGHTS TAKE CENTER STAGE IN NEVADA THIS WEEK

August 8, 2016

Tomorrow the NRA is opening a campaign office here in Las Vegas to fight New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Question 1 ballot initiative this November. Question one will expand background checks requiring anyone who uses your gun, including family and friends, to go to a gun store and pay for a background check. So if a wife grabs her husband’s gun out of the bedroom and uses it to defend herself against an armed intruder, she would be guilty of a felony under this extreme bill. In fact the burglar could sue the wife for shooting him with an unlawfully transferred firearm. Similar background check laws have failed to reduce gun crime in New York and other states, according to FBI crime statistics. Question 1 also threatens the future of gun shows like the Cross Roads of West Show this weekend at Cashman Center, by outlawing lawful transfers of firearms between private parties.

NEWSMAXTV LAS VEGAS is hosting a town hall to discuss Question one with community leaders this weekend from 10am to 11am inside the Cashman Center at the Crossroads of the West Show.  There is limited seating so get your tickets before they’re all gone.
