Bill Clinton Appointee, Federal Judge David Hurd, has upheld religious exemptions of healthcare workers in New York over the objections of Gov. Hochul. The judge ordered the State to honor all such exemptions without limit.

Attorneys for the Thomas More Society represent some 17 healthcare workers in a lawsuit challenging the New York State Department of Health.

Judge Hurd ruled on Tuesday

“that the mandate conflicts with “individuals’ federally protected right to seek a religious accommodation from their individual employers,” granting a preliminary injunction to the plaintiffs.”

Hurd also placed limitations on the New York State Department of Health, stating that it

“is barred from interfering in any way with the granting of religious exemptions from COVID-19 vaccination going forward, or with the operation of exemptions already granted,”

Christopher Ferrara, a lawyer from the Thomas More Society said

“With this decision, the court rightly recognized that yesterday’s ‘front line heroes’ in dealing with C OVID-19 cannot suddenly be treated as disease-carrying villains and kicked to the curb by the command of a state health bureaucracy,”

This decision gives folks seeking religious and medical exceptions to the Democrat imposed Vaccine mandates across the country a glimmer of hope until another Federal Judge denies such a case. Then the issue of religious exceptions may end up in front of the U.S. Supreme Court.
