NV REPUBLICANS CONTINUE DECADE LONG SUICIDE BY VOTING FOR MORE ANTI-BIZ LIBERAL LAWS

May 18, 2019

As reported by NPRI the “Paid Sick Leave Bill, SB312, passed the Nevada Senate unanimously — meaning even Republicans agreed the most recent attempt to micromanage businesses in Nevada.” Under the new law, companies with 50 or more employees will be required to offer 40 hours of paid sick leave a year under the bill.

Companies in the future will pass up Nevada as we become more and more hostile to businesses. We live in a competitive environment where Nevada must compete with 50 other states for companies to move here. Business owners suffering under the weight of high taxes and regulations in California are increasingly pass over Nevada for Texas and more business friendly states.

The Reno and Sparks Chamber of Commerce came out in support of the legislation, as did other business industry groups. There seems to be a growing divided between those running Chambers of Commerce and those who own businesses in Nevada. The Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce has refused to oppose the minimum wage increase this session and last session.

Summary of SB 312:
