NV (R) CANDIDATES MUM ON TRUMP DOJ INDICTMENT

June 13, 2023

Today, President Trump will be arraigned on 37 criminal charges in a Miami federal court for supposedly unlawfully retaining classified documents after leaving the White House. No word on when the DOJ will be charging President Biden for holding onto classified documents after leaving the Obama administration.

The ABA Legal Fact Check posted last year on Oct. 17,

“legal guidelines support Trumps’ contention that presidents have broad authority to formally declassify most documents that are not statutorily protected, while they are in office.”

Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy issued the following statement

Today is indeed a dark day for the United States of America. It is unconscionable for a President to indict the leading candidate opposing him. Joe Biden kept classified documents for decades. I, and every American who believes in the rule of law, stand with President Trump against this grave injustice. House Republicans will hold this brazen weaponization of power accountable.

Even after two separate indictments, one in New York and this new one in Federal Court, Trump still leads the pack of rivals by at least 35 points nationally among Republican voters.

But to date, we haven’t seen any statements on Twitter or websites from Nevada Republican congressional and senatorial candidates about this action by the Biden DOJ. And it’s not too early. The Republican primary is one year away.

360 News will publish their statements if and when they comment.
