The bill would add additional significant penalties to anyone who killed a Police K9 during the commission of a crime. Assemblyman Wheeler said “It’s time we recognize the unique contribution of Police K9’s and significant danger they face protecting law enforcement officers and the public every day on the streets of our state. Police K9’s are not just a tool but a part of our law enforcement family.” It would make it a B felony, providing for up to life in prison if convicted of killing a Police K9 in Nevada.
