INMATE GOT BAIL AFTER ATTACKING JUDGE

January 9, 2024

Inmate and habitual violent thug, Deobra Redden made national news last week when he flew over a judge’s bench and attacked Judge Mary Kay Holthus, a former prosecutor. Judge Holthus was about to sentence Redden to prison for yet another battery charge when Redden charged the judge and flew over her bench. Both she and several court marshals were injured. Yesterday, Redden was forced to appear in court with a dozen marshals dressed like Hannibal Lecter.

Redden has been charged more than 20 times with violently attacking people since 2012, including a couple of charges of assault with a deadly weapon and a failed home invasion robbery. After all that, the system and Judge Lauren Diefenbach automatically granted Redden $54,000 in bail on 13 new counts. The counts for attacking a judge included eight violent felonies, including attempted murder.

Las Vegas is at the top of the list of cities with horrible woke bail and sentencing laws. Redden’s automatic bail on these crimes is a wake-up call for our governor and lawmakers to push back against these crazy Lib criminal injustice laws that let habitual repeat offenders like Redden out of prison and let him qualify for bail after 20 or more violent crimes over the last ten years. This time, it was caught on camera. This time it was a judge. What about all the people Redden has hurt over the last ten years, not caught on camera? Redden would never have attacked Judge Holthus if he had been sentenced as a habitual offender after his first 10 convictions to life in prison. Holthus is the poster boy for three strikes in Nevada.

BTW, Judge Holthus only sentenced him to 19 to 48 months in prison. That was her original sentence prior to his attack. Again, with his record, it’s predictable that Redden will eventually kill some innocent person out there one day. If he hadn’t attacked a judge on TV, he could have been out in 19 months. But now he’s facing life in prison.
