After Trump lost Wisconsin and Colorado to Ted Cruz, it’s looking more and more likely that Mr. Trump will not get to the magic number of 1,237 delegates to clinch the Republican nomination on the first ballot. As of today, Donald Trump has 743 delegates, Senator Ten Cruz has 545 delegates, Governor John Kasich has 143 delegates and Senator Marco Rubio has 171 delegates. If Cruz, Kasich and Rubio work together they would have 859 delegates which could then effectively deny Donald Trump the Republican nomination at a contested RNC convention in Cleveland this summer. Just yesterday, on Mark Levin TV, Rubio hinted that he may endorse Cruz saying “Cruz is the only conservative left in the race”. Kasich has all the establishment money and support behind him and is collecting as many delegates as possible which could potentially be his ticket to a VP spot if Cruz is nominated. This election year has seen more twists and turns than a Tijuana sausage factory and the RNC Convention Rules Committee hasn’t even met yet, which could spin this primary further in favor of Cruz, or someone else entirely. The real question is, will all the Trump supporters accept this outcome or will they stay home in November and let Bernie or Hillary slip through the general election and thus ensuring a third Obama term?
