Newly elected Councilman Steve Seroka motioned for denial of the proposed development agreement, and Councilmember’s Tarkanian, Anthony, and Coffin voting with him in favor of denial. Vickie Dehart, Principle EHB Companies says they’re disappointed in the decision but still think their development is a good fit. “We purchased this property, we own it, and EHB is the only hope for the Badlands property to be developed into a quality project that provides value and protection for residents.” A handful of residents appeared at Tuesday’s hearing. Most were there to oppose the development agreement as it related to their personal properties. 14 residents out of the 985 who live in Queensridge were negotiating for additional land and view protections. About 20 residents have legal action pending against the developer. This is 3% of the residents who live in the neighborhood. EHB Cos. Attorney Jim Jimmerson added, “At the foundation of the process is the respect of property rights of the land owner. Not one comment in the hearing was made about the property rights of EHB. Without the protection of property rights for developers, we are at risk of stalling our economic development.” The golf course was purchased in 2015 by EHB Cos. The development agreement process began with the City of Las Vegas in 2015 and ended on August 2, 2017. Over the last two years, the city staff and the developer have been implementing the development process that is followed by developers who make an application to develop projects of regional significance in the city limits. “We tried to put the best plan forward for the city of Las Vegas, the homeowners, and for us,” Dehart added. “Certainly losing the development agreement for the entire parcel wasn’t the best for us, but we plan to weigh our options and take the necessary steps to move forward.” Local Attorney Robert T.
