TRUMP INFRASTRUCTURE PLAN MAY INCLUDE A NEW BULLET TRAIN FOR NEVADA’S INTERIOR

The Trump Administration isn’t a month old yet and its moving full speed ahead with ambitious plans to rebuild America’s infrastructure. Unlike Obama’s $800 billion shovel ready stimulus plan which ended up pouring back slur on highways and producing no long term economic growth, Trump’s plan will be focused on projects that will be an economic engine creating wealth for millions of Americans.

Here in Nevada, one group called Silver Bullet Nevada, is planning an ambitious high speed rail project to connect Las Vegas to Reno and linking the interior of the State to the outside world.

 The estimated $10 billion proposed project includes freight not just passengers delivered at over 300 miles per hour. The electromagnetic rail would be elevated above the desert floor to reduce the environmental footprint, with trains running in two directions. One train would run from Reno to Vegas while a second train would run from Vegas to Reno. Each would stop in Pahrump, Tonopah, Hawthorne and Carson City.

The plan is to  build the 500 miles of high speed train using federal land and vacant federal buildings as compensation, no new tax dollars.

It was Republicans who built the Erie Canal, the Panama Canal, the Transcontinental Railroad and the Interstate highway, all of which produced millions of jobs and created vast wealth for our country. The current two lane highway from the third world we in Nevada call our transportation system and locals call “The Widow Maker”, because of the hundreds people killed over the years, is a huge impediment to growth and opportunity for hundreds of thousands of our citizens.

There are over 300,000 people living between Vegas and Reno who have zero transportation available outside their pov’s. It’s time we move into the 21st century and out of the dark ages.

Another major benefit to the 300,000 Nevadan would be medical services, including EMT services. Many of our fellow Nevadans currently have no medical services at all for hundreds of miles. Tonopah has no critical care services currently. The Silver Bullet Nevada could transport not only people but also blood work samples and x rays.

The Silver Bullet Nevada is seeking $20 million to  start the process by doing environmental studies, route studies, fiscal studies, passenger and freight studies, viability studies etc. The studies will take about 2 years after which Silver Bullet Nevada will apply to the Trump Administration for support.

A Bill Draft request is being submitted by Assmeblyeman Jim Marchant to fund the study. The Nye County Commission and the Tonopah City Council have already signed letters of support for the project. Most of the Nevada’s major Trade Unions are fully on board, creating strange bedfellows with Conservative Trump Republicans.
