VIDEOS: MICHAEL BENNETT ARRESTING METRO OFFICER’S BODY CAMERA WAS OFF?

September 7, 2017

This morning at a news conference, Undersheriff Kevin McMahill disclosed that the Metro Police Officer who arrested Michael Bennett, who was fleeing the scene of a suspected active shooter situation out of fear for his life, allegedly did not have his body camera on.

Other people nearby did record the incident. Police believed at the time of the perceived active shooter situation that because Bennett was running away he might have been involved. It turned out he was simply running for his life from what most people at the time thought was an active shooter situation. It later turned out there was no active shooter just a loud noise that sounded like a firearm.

The arresting Metro Officer pointed his firearm at Mr. Bennett and according to Bennett threatened to shot him in the F*** head if he moved. The officer released Bennett about ten minutes after figuring out he was not involved in the situation.

But the fact that Metro claims the body camera was in the off position is raising serious questions about Metro’s own internal policies.

Undersheriff McMahill denied race had anything to do with Bennett’s arrest and invited Bennet and his lawyer to come in and file an official complaint.
