HOW RISKY IS IT FOR LOMBARDO TO ENDORSES TRUMP FOR PRES?

Many folks probably think it doesn’t take very much courage for Nevada Gov. Lombardo to endorse Trump for president. After all, Trump is leading, according to Emerson College, up 65 percent over his next closest competitor, with a whopping 73 percent support in the caucuses. And Trump supported him for governor in the primary.

But Nevada is a purple state, with a huge number of folks who moved here recently from California and an even larger number of registered Independent voters, many of whom recently left the Democratic Party.

Lombardo defeated an extremely unpopular Democratic governor after the pandemic by a whopping 1.5 points. So yes, Lombardo is taking a big risk by endorsing Trump in Nevada. But “if” Trump wins the White House, and “if” President Trump helps Gov. Lombardo deliver real change here in Nevada on crime and the economy, then perhaps his support today will pay off when he runs for re-election in 2026.
