Before Stone took the stage, Gov. Lombardo extolled Nevada Republican Party Chairman Mike McDonald for his efforts to turn Nevada red in the last election. Lombardo continued to praise McDonald for increasing the number of registered Republicans, outpacing the Democrats for the first time in over 20 years. Lombardo also noted what a great friend McDonald has been for decades. Then Roger Stone took to the stage and urged Gov. Lombardo to pardon Micheal McDonald and Jesse Law in the wake of Aaron Ford’s questionable criminal case charging them as fake electors in the 2020 election. Stone went on to discuss Kennedy alternative appointing electors in Hawaii and other historical instances when alternative electors have been submitted to Congress. On December 12, 2024, in a brazen act of lawfare, the Nevada Attorney General refiled criminal charges of offering a false instrument for filing and uttering a forged instrument against Nevada’s Republican leadership, including Clark County Republican Chairman Jesse Law, Nevada GOP Chairman Michael McDonald, Vice Chair Jim DeGraffenreid, Durward James Hindle III, Shawn Meehan, and Eileen Rice-charges that carry penalties of up to four or five years in prison. This was Ford’s second attempt at the same charges he filed back in 2023 in Clark County District Court. The judge dismissed those charges for lack of jurisdiction. Despite the Nevada Supreme Court still reviewing the first case that was thrown out, Ford has opted to file this new case on the same charges in Carson City, just in case he loses the appeal. Ford said “We have filed these charges in Carson City as a preemptive measure to ensure that the statute of limitations on this charge does not lapse,” Democratic Attorney General Aaron Ford said in a statement Thursday. “My office still believes that Clark County is an appropriate venue for this case and will continue to seek a ruling from the Nevada Supreme Court to return to the Eighth Judicial District Court. While we disagree with the finding of improper venue and will continue to seek to overturn it, we are preserving our legal rights in order to ensure that these fake electors do not escape justice. The actions the fake electors undertook in 2020 violated Nevada criminal law and were direct attempts to both sow doubt in our democracy and undermine the results of a free and fair election. Justice requires that these actions not go unpunished. This is not going away.” President Trump carried Nevada by about 50,000 votes, almost 3 points. Now, Trump’s Nevada Republican leadership is under attack again. Ford accidentally announced he is running for governor while discussing this POS case. By the way, the “fake electors” were the “real electors” in 2024 after Trump’s huge victory in the Nevada general election. Lombardo, who is running an overly cautious race for reelection, feels he needs soft Dems in Clark County to win. But is he and the Republican Party ignoring Trump’s blueprint for victory here in Nevada? Trump beat Kamala Harris and Jacky Rosen by about 50,000 votes in November, paving the way for Republicans to tackle the tough issues they have shied away from here in past elections.
