According to the aviationist: “Naval Air Station Fallon in Nevada is the United States Navy’s most important air-to-air and air-to-ground training facility, home of the Top Gun course.” (D) U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto announced this week that her amendment to expand the Navy’s Fallon Range Training Complex (FRTC) will be included in the FY2023 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The U.S. House of Representatives and Senate are expected to vote on the bill in the coming weeks. Masto’s amendment will provide the Fallon Range Training Complex with an additional 558,535 acres for military training. 18,170 acres of land will be held in trust for the Walker River Paiute and Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribes. The bill also gives $20 million to the Walker River Paiute Tribe to fund a historic new cultural center to “sustain the knowledge, culture, and language of the Fallon Paiute Shoshone tribe.”
