FBI INVESTIGATION OF ELECTION SYSTEM DATABASE HACKING SPURS WRIT TO NV HIGH COURT OVER VOTING MACHINES

September 2, 2016

With the recent claim by Nevada Senator Harry Reid that Russia might be hacking state election system databases, a new Writ of Mandamus was filed with the Nevada Supreme Court this week by a group of primary candidates seeking to inspect the voter machines in Clark County. Assembly District 41 Candidate Mary Rooney filed her claim, along with Blaine Jones and Diana Orrock, claiming significant irregularities in the voting results. The candidates claim the voting machines in Clark County were updated prior to the election and that that violated the public’s right to examine the changes to the software system. They are simply seeking to compare the paper scrolls with the election results the voting machines dispensed.

The case just took a strange turn following Senator Reid’s open letter to the FBI claiming the Russians may be hacking several state election databases. According to sources, the voting data is transmitted from each county’s election department to the Secretary of State’ office in Carson City on election night which could provide hackers the opportunity to infiltrate the system.

Blaine Jones commented saying “If they have nothing to hide why is the Clark County Elections Department fighting so hard to keep the data secret?”

The candidates have started a group called “Count the Vote” to help raise money to pay the attorneys for the appeal to the Nevada State Supreme Court at countthevotenv.com.

The Group put out the following statement “While no candidate is alleging fraud, they are requesting the voting is opened to them, as is their right.”
