September 17, 2018 Rob Lauer Political Reporter Las Vegas thug on the run, Curtis Truman, was videotaped shooting into a car striking a little seven year old girl last week. She survived and Truman is on the run. There appears to be a real issue in Clark County Courts with judges letting thugs like Truman out on bail or pleading them down to nothing burger charges just to move them along. I sat in on court a couple of times over the last month or so and watched as prosecutors and public defense lawyers spent maybe one minute on average reviewing a case and making a plea bargain. Clearly the system is broken, over burden and needs more funding for more prosecutors and defense lawyers to prevent more Curtis Trumans from sliding through the system and ending up on the street and better use of the resources they have now too. Since 2013, Truman was charged with 19 crimes. It appears from court documents, Curtis is still awaiting trial on 3 burglary charges from 2013 and in 2016 was convicted of “Drawing a gun in a threatening manner” NRA 51460 and being a felon in possession of a gun. There is currently a warrant out for his arrest. It will be interesting to see if he gets bail again. In the 2016 case involving Truman drawing a gun in a threatening manner, the possession charge was dropped and Truman was allowed to plead down the felony to a misdemeanor. In fairness we do not know the facts in the case and whether the victim was too scare or unwilling to testify to determine if this was the best possible result. But Truman has the criminal record of a future gang bang killer and perhaps we need a monitor troubled young men like Truman in the future much better someway. The county desperately needs to stop wasting time and court resources on stupid cases like minor code enforcement misdemeanors against homeowners for leaving trash out ect. and more time on dangerous thugs like Curtis Truman. 2016 Case Disposition Draw DW in threatening manner [51453] Nolo Contendere 04/12/2016 Disposition (Judicial Officer: Zimmerman, Ann E.)
