KILLER WALKED OUT OF NV PRISON WITH NO GUARDS FOR 3 YRS?

When people ask, Why am I a Republican? this next story sums it up. Our government has billions of dollars for illegal aliens, for refugees from every shithole country in the world, but they can’t find the money to hire prison guards to watch convicted murders here in Nevada.

Last year, convicted murderer Porfirio Duarte-Herrera, who was serving a life sentence for murder at the prison in Indian Springs, escaped in September 2022 under Governor Sisolak. Keep in mind that the state received billions of COVID dollars. But somehow, Gov. Sisolak couldn’t find the money to pay for prison guards to man the watch towers at night. Yep.

According to Duarte-Herrera, he told investigators that he had escaped SDCC on the evening of September 23, 2022, by hiding near a pony wall outside his prison unit. Then he climbed three prison fences. He then walked all the way through the desert to Las Vegas, where he was given a bus ticket by a bystander. He told law enforcement that he “knew the towers at the prison were not operational and had not been manned for the previous three years.” He said that he never would have attempted it if the towers were operational because he didn’t want to be shot. It took him about four minutes to climb over all three prison fences.

Duarte-Herrera pleaded guilty to one count of escape, a class B felony. He was sentenced to a term of 19–48 months in the same prison, to run consecutive to his current sentence. Again, he’s serving a life sentence. No word on whether he had any privileges taken away.

The Nevada Department of Prisons issued the following statement, giving me great confidence.

The Nevada Department of Corrections Office of the Inspector General released on Thursday the investigation into the escape of Porfirio Duarte-Herrer, 1047258, from Southern Desert Correctional Center.

The Department has reviewed the findings and is working to mitigate future risk.

360 News asked the Nevada Department of Prisons if the guard towers are now fully manned. So far, no answer.

In other news, last month, The Fraternal Order of Police filed an official grievance claiming the state had not paid retention bonus as required under their contract.
