THE DAILY GRIND – OCTOBER 14TH, 2016: STATE ASSEMBLY VOTED FOR THE RAIDERS STADIUM BILL

STATE ASSEMBLY VOTED FOR THE RAIDERS STADIUM BILL

Today the State assembly voted for the Raiders Stadium bill. The bill now goes to the State Senate for approval.

For many, it’s a hard pill to swallow just one week before early voting is set to start. Many voters have expressed serious doubts, while the unions have lined up behind it. But a faction of both Democrats and Republicans were opposed to it in its current form.

Republicans were holding out for Education Savings Accounts (also known as ESAs), and the Democrats just didn’t want to give Sheldon Adelson 750 million dollars interest free. But, ultimately, most of them voted for the stadium bill. Senator Harry Reid successfully called many assembly democrats and twisted arms. Governor Sandoval struck down any attempt to attach ESAs to the bill by Republicans.

Regardless of how they voted, the Assemblyman are about to be attacked in mailers. The stadium bill will end political careers. Voters will have the last word on the stadium.
