This week, Republican Candidate for Nevada Governor, Adam Laxalt, launched a new TV ad campaign pledging to increase Education spending by $500 million. Laxalt also pledged to break his previous pledge to end the commerce tax in a written statement.

During the primary, Laxalt promised to end the controversial Commerce Tax passed in 2015 by Gov. Sandoval. Last week Sandoval issued a statement saying he was not endorsing Laxalt. Now in a new statement he has pledged not to end the $1.3 Billion tax increase.

Behind the scenes many elected Republicans are furious at Laxalt. Many State Assemblyman and Senators they feel like he cut their legs out from under them this week. But none of them would talk on the record at this point in the campaign.

One elected Republican who didn’t want his name on the record said “Laxalt either is lying to Democrats now to get elected or he lied to us last year. Either way he’s a liar.”

One person that was willing to go on the record was Leading CCSD Trustee Candidate for District F, Danielle Ford, said “Before we raise anyone’s taxes, I want to see where all the money in CCSD is really going and make sure we take care of our teachers.”
