Amazon filed a patent recently for a “non-contact biometric identification system” that features a “hand scanner” to produce a picture of a person’s palm. According to news reports, Amazon is working with Visa on testing terminals. Amazon is also working with Mastercard, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo and Synchrony Financial.

Its all part of Amazon’s plan to expand it’s Go stores, which allows shoppers to make purchases without cashiers or checkout.

With most Americans recoiling at the thought of micro chips implanted into their hands, could using your palm print be the future of credit card payments and cloud data management?
